DAIS - RS VIRTUAL CONFERENCE

LET’S FULLFILL OUR HOBBIES

‘The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the show.’

The Round Square Team of Dhirubai Ambani International School, Mumbai took an initiative to bringparticipants of different schools on a single platform and conducted a fun filled session for children’s all time favourite - Dancing, Singing and Baking during this pandemic.

The first session took place on 23rd May 2020 from 6pm to 7pm on Microsoft Teams. These sessions will be conducted for next few Saturdays. Kamya, Ananya and Aarna, choreographers from DAIS started the session with a brief introduction and madeAvantika Mishra,PalakLaddha and SanghamitraMaheshwari aware of their strategy to be followed during the sessions. The energy of the song ‘Jai Jai Shiv Shankar’ combined with a few simple steps soon helped the students to build a bond between passionate dancers. This virtual dance-learning platform worked like a charm and the students got engaged and comfortable in learning from their friends from different corners. Eventually, it offered considerable stress-relief and immediate boost to the sense of optimism and joy amongst the participants.

From RKK Suhani Baheti, Nehal Gehlot,Vani and Nikita Vijayan participated in "Soulful Singing". The host students,Vrinda,Shay and Dev greeted the students with a warm welcome and  everyone introduced themselves adding up to a song that they liked the most. The host students did the same to introduce themselves. They also explained on how to handle Microsoft team briefly and soon started the session with a fun-filled vocal exercise and later introduced a  new melodious song to the participants called'A Million Dreams' by Hugh Jackman. Vrindasung a few lines on a high note and all the other students followed her.Shay sung on a lower note with a low range of voice. Slowly and steadilyeveryone understood the song. Time flew by but each minute was thoroughly enjoyedby all. At the end the host students bid goodbye with a promise to meet next Saturday with new vibes.

The Baking session began by breaking the ice between the participants andmaking two sumptuous dishes that were scheduled.RKKians - SanghmitraMaheshwari, Manasvi Salecha and LavinaBhawnani made homemade ice cream and chocolate cake and found them very easy & quick to prepare.

This online activity / workshop provided an excellent tool for building emotional awareness and impulse control of the students.

#DAIS  Round Square second week online sessions were incredibly successful. 13 schools and 172 participants joined in the fun! There was a lot of fun exploring new skills in these engaging sessions with enthusiastic learners. They learnt not only the assigned activities, but also created an atmosphere wherein the students were able to get to know one another better, thus allowing every one to cross the boundary of physical distance between each other.

The Artists in Action decided to turn art into a fun game with their very own Origami Hopping Frogs, and also created some intriguing illusion art. The Soulful Singers practiced and perfected a melodious hindi song, Kal Ho Na Ho. Our Culinary Crew made some scrumptious chocolate shortbread cookies, garlic bread and chilli cheese toast! The Let’s Get Dancing Team taught an incredibly fast paced and energetic Bollywood choreography to Madhubala and Fun with Fitness conducted an exhausting but exhilarating Abs workout. The students were lively and energetic and awed us all with their talent!
