THE IPSC DANCE FEST 2019 (HOSTED BY RKK)


“Dance is the most beautiful art. It is not mere translation or abstraction of life but it is life itself.”

Keeping in tandem with the objectives of the IPSC, RKK always structures its curriculum and calendar which caters to the needs of present generation and nurtures the traits of initiative, responsibility, self discipline, camaraderie, team spirit, fair play, refined taste and public service in its students.

RKK felt overwhelmed and proud to receive the honour of conducting The IPSC Dance Fest from 9th to 12th November 2019. It has been a stride to give the students a national exposure at an All India Inter School level. The School Campus witnessed the lively presence of 202 young delegates from 13 IPSC schools who participated zealously and enthusiastically spreading vibrancy in the campus.

This Fest organized by Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls' Public School, Jodhpur witnessed extraordinary participation from the following schools.

1.       Donyi polo Vidya Bhawan, Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh)

2.       Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ School, Jaipur

3.       Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai, Sonipat

4.       Pinegrove School, Solan

5.       Rajkumar College, Raipur

6.       Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior

7.       The Assam Valley School, Sonitpur, Assam

8.       The Daly College, Indore

9.       Vallabh Ashram’s MGM Amin and VN Savani School, Valsad Gujarat

10.   Vidya Devi Jindal School, Hisar

11.   Welham Boys’ School, Dehradun

12.   Welham Girls’ School, Dehradun

13. Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School, Jodhpur (Host School).

Dance brought colours to the life and soul of the campus. For young artists, the stage of RKK became their second home. There was no greater joy than performing in front of a live audience. The glitz and glamour of the make up, costumes, stage and live audience became a part of their regular schedule for five days.

This was a perfect platform for students to showcase their artistic capabilities & cultivate their skills. An array of dancing events were organized encompassing both Eastern & Western genres which combined four categories garnered into a seamless and unforgettable experience.

Opening Ceremony on the morning of 9th November 2019 created a buzz, setting the mood for the upcoming events. The Chief Guest, His Highness Maharaja Gaj Singhji Sahib complimented the school for its rich and congenial cultural environment preparing students for a bright future. Members of the School Management Committee, distinguished guests, proud parents, staff & students of RKK graced the occasion with their sanguine presence.

Keynote Speaker Ms Sevantika Bhandari enthralled the audience with her prolific speech. Welcome Dance and Grand Finale completely mesmerized everyone and were a visual spectacle for an exhilarating and amazing experience. Workshop conducted by eminent Choreographer, Mr Bharat Verma on Body Percussion was a super hit. The group performances, Dance Ballad were exhibited in the event, ‘Abhivyakti’ during the evening.

The participants had to prepare their dance on any theme, which conveyed a social message. Each team comprised 10-15 participants. The coordination amongst the teams was highly praiseworthy. The mesmerizing performances rocked the stage and captivated the hearts. Principal’s Dinner & Jam Night was a time to enjoy and freely bond with each other. Trophy for Outstanding Performance was won by Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ School Jaipur, Vidya Devi Jindal School Hisar, Pinegrove School Solan, Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School, Jodhpur and Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya Gwalior.

 10th of November, the second day of the fest witnessed in the morning, ‘Nrityanjali’ – the Indian Classical Dance. The dancers were at their best and burst with verve and vitality. Their wonderful solo performances were applauded by one and all. 4 Dancing Divas from The Daly College Indore, The Assam Valley School Assam, Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya Gwalior and Welham Girls’ School Dehradun schools won the Trophy for their Outstanding Performance.

In the evening, the students, parents and teachers were all excited to witness the much awaited ‘Cloud 9’ - Western Group Dance. The performances of the teams reminded everyone of the incredible dancers, Martha Graham, Gene Kelley and Michael Jackson. Their movements captured the essence of music and took the audience to ‘Cloud 9’.  Their great technique matched with artistry and the audience was completely enthralled by their unique dance moves. Trophy for Outstanding Performance was won by Welham Boys’ School Dehradun, The Daly College Indore, Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) and Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ School Jaipur.

On 11th of November, the third day of the Fest, Workshop conducted by eminent Expert of Natya Shastra, Mr Gyanender Dutt Vajpai enlightened the audience with the nuances of dances and enriched the mind and soul of all the artists. The talented dancers showcased their extraordinary potential in the event, ‘Lokanuranjan’ - Indian Folk Group Dance. The dancers in their flamboyant costumes, extensive jewellery and glamorous make up created a beautiful atmosphere. The audience was ensconced in a calm, serene environment and found it difficult to stop applauding for the amazing, graceful, dancers. Trophy for Outstanding Performance was won by Motilal Nehru School of Sports Rai Sonipat, Rajkumar College Raipur, Welham Girls’ School Dehradun and Vallabh Ashram’s MGM Amin and VN Savani School Valsad Gujarat.


In all four categories of the Fest, Young dancers were thrilled to be a part of colourful, vibrant and energizing events. Their hands, feet and bodies, draped in colourful costumes, twirled, flipped and jumped on the stage of the school. The choreography, rhythm, synchronization and presentation of all the students were par excellence. The happiness of the children was amply evident with applause and appreciation.

The words of PB Shelley compliment the Fest very well :  

“What thou art we know not,

What is most like thee?

From rainbow clouds there flow not

Drops so bright to see

As from thy presence showers a rain of melody”


Five days, 8th November to 12th November, filled the campus of RKK with the echoes of euphoria and elation. RKK fondly cherishes the revered bond formed with the IPSC Family over the years and will continue with the stronger association in the years to come.
