WELMUN 2019


“We must speak our minds openly, debate our disagreements honestly, but always pursue solidarity.”

On 2nd August 2019, eleven students with escort teacher Mrs Seema Baxi reached Dehradun to participate in Welham Boys’ Model United Nations and Kamera Obscura Competition scheduled to be held from 3rd to 5th August 2019.

The three days long event was inaugurated in the morning of 3rd  August with the theme ‘Fostering Fraternity in a Fractured World’. The Chief Guest was Mr. Dilip Sinha, a seasoned diplomat, India’s Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva from 2012 to 2014. His august presence and invaluable snippets of information from his long association with the UN set the tone for the Conference to unfold its potential and more importantly piqued the interest of the budding student delegates. 18 schools participated in the event. The participating Schools included the Punjab Public School, Mayo College Girls School, Mayo College Boys School, Modern School Vasant Vihar, Shiv Nadar, Welham Girls’ School, Welham Boys’ School, Selaqui International School, The Doon School, Doon International, Unison School, Delhi Public School, Maharani Gayatri Devi School, Pinegrove, Delhi Sanskriti School, Daly College Indore and Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School, Jodhpur.

Simultaneously the Kamera Obscure Competition also started. The theme for Still Photography was ‘Monsoons’ and ‘Behind the Camera’ for Movie Making Competition. It was overwhelming when Sakshi Garg and Yaana Jain won third position in the Movie Making Competition.

Participation in debates and discussions in RKK keep increasing with each passing day thereby building the confidence level of the students stronger and stronger.
