POCSO AWARENESS SESSION BY MS NISHA JAIN

Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School plays an important role in spreading awareness amongst the RKK Community – the staff, students and support staff from time to time by conducting seminars and workshops on important local and global issues.

Protection of children from sexual offences Act, 2012 is a ‘not so new’ member in the family of statutes, yet people hardly know about it. Sexual crimes against children are increasing day by day. Keeping in mind the need for generating more awareness to deal with this evil destroying a child’s innocence and overall development, a Workshop was conducted on 30th March 2019 for the school community comprising Administrative, Academic, Non Academic Staff, Students of Classes IX to XII and Support Staff.

Ms. Nisha Jain and Ms Pallavi Singh spoke in detail about the prevalence of child abuse in our society and emphasized on the importance of identifying symptoms that might be the cause of behavioral changes in students regarding mental or physical abuse within the realms of society, i.e. family and friends. She reiterated the importance of the role played by educators in the safety and security of children. They made the audience   aware about the various words and actions of sexual harassment that are often overlooked through role plays, short videos, activities, and discussions. This was perhaps another step of RKK towards creating a disciplined and aware society.
