HEATED SESSIONS OF DEBATE

The beginning of the East India Debates hosted by The Assam Valley School, Assam from 17th to 21st September 2017, was heralded by the entire school community singing in harmony the hymn “All in All”. Tiya Gupta, Rajesvi Deora, Shambhavi  Shekhar, Aastha Sancheti and Teacher Escort Ms Upasana Rathore represented RKK. The light- hearted “Ice-Breaking Session” took place true to tradition and ended with warm smiles and the blooming of new friendships.

This house believes that college students should take part in polities”, “This house believes that today’s youth is wild and selfish”, “This house believes that third – gender equality is a farce”, “This house believes that fairytales are misleading and distant from reality” , “This house believes that adolescents have the right to privacy over the caregiver’s right to know” and “This house believes that single sex schools are better in today’s day and time”- these burning topics took center stage as the debates proceeded with countless arguments about ideologies and realities, fostering of chaos in a non-political school. Words rushed restless through the air. Opinions spouted at the drop of a coin and arguments were made both at the table and behind the podium.  It was a session of heat, drive and pure, raw passion of the argumentative Indian. The debating team won in Preliminary Round III against KIIT International School, Bhuvneshwar, Orissa and Aastha Sancheti was awarded the ‘Best Speaker’. Kudos to RKK once again.
